Watch: Denver grabs hold of Game 4 with huge run

Minnesota has the league’s top defense, but Denver showed it's no slouch on that side of the ball early in Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals.

Denver was trailing 20-13 halfway through the first quarter when the Nuggets buckled down on defense. They closed the first quarter on a 14-2 stretch with Jokic beating the buzzer to close the period. But the Nuggets' run didn't stop there.

Denver started the second quarter on a 12-2 run, getting big threes from Justin Holiday and two Christian Braun layups. For more than seven minutes, Denver held the Wolves to just six points while shooting 10 for 13 from the floor at the other end.

Jokic delivered a blocked shot in that shutdown stretch while scoring himself on plays where the Timberwolves appeared to play perfect defense.

Minnesota clearly has some runs of its own in it, but Denver has shown that going down 2-0 in the second-round series hasn't sapped its ability to turn up the pressure on Minnesota.
