Depth continues to be the primary concern as we look ahead to the 2024 LSU football defensive line, and coach Brian Kelly has not given up on his search for an additional lineman or two. Most recently, the Tigers showed interest in impressive transfer portal targets Adin Huntington out of UL Monroe and Brandon Lane from Stephen F Austin.

LSU football gets in contact with in-state transfer portal defensive lineman Adin Huntington

When you’re searching for a transfer portal addition or two, sometimes all you need to do is look in your own backyard. Coach Brian Kelly and the Tigers have found particular success doing this in the world of recruiting, and so it should come as very little surprise that they recently started giving it a shot in the transfer portal as well.

Despite having played just one season with UL Monroe, defensive lineman Adin Huntington proved to be one of the more productive linemen in the entire state in 2023, so when he entered the portal in late April, it was only natural that the purple and gold were likely to eventually come calling.

LSU football was first reported to get in contact with the 6-foot-1, 281-pound Stafford, VA, product on May 8, 2024, and while there hasn’t been much movement since, this could be a recruitment to keep a close eye on as far as the 2024 LSU football roster is concerned.

While Huntington is technically entering his fifth season of college football, he’s by far coming off his best season yet, having recorded 62 total tackles to go along with 16 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks in just 11 outings. Notably, when the Warhawks faced off against Ole Miss last November, he managed to record a sack on quarterback Jaxson Dart; a feat the entire LSU football defense failed to achieve when they faced off against the Rebels a couple months prior.

Huntington will enter the 2024 college football season with two years of eligibility remaining.

Former Big Ten commit Brandon Lane reports that he’s received interest from the Tigers since reopening his recruitment

After decommitting from Michigan State almost one full week ago, Brandon Lane has seemingly been a very busy man.

The talented transfer portal defensive lineman out of Stephen F Austin first committed to the Spartans on April 26, 2024, but after a slight change of heart, he’s reportedly received plenty of attention. According to Pete Nakos of On3, the 6-foot-3, 300-pound defender out of Kansas City, MO, has been in contact with Colorado, LSU, NC State and USC among others.

Entering his fifth season of college football, Lane has played his entire career at the FCS level thus far (South Dakota State and Stephen F Austin), but has shown flashes that lead several programs to believe he could be an impact player in the FBS. In four years, he’s seen action in 22 games, totaling 55 tackles, nine tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and one fumble recovery.

He’ll enter the 2024 season with just one year of eligibility remaining and is looking to potentially end his recruitment sooner rather than later.
